This week a car full of American tourists crashed in Victoria, British Columbia, because the driver was looking for their hotel using a GPS, according to police reports as reported in the Times Colonist.

The rental vehicle crashed into an other car at an intersection. The four tourists were treated for minor injuries at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries.

Almost 80 percent of crashes and 65 percent of near-crashes happen within three seconds of some form of driver distraction, according to the report by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.
